The Center for Food Safety of Hong Kong announced Tuesday that the processing of applications for importing poultryand poultry products from Poland would be suspended with immediate effect.
"The decision was taken following confirmation of a case involving the highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 on two poultry farms there," said a spokesman from the center.
"We will seek further information about the case from the relevant authorities," he said.
Hong Kong imported about 5,900 tons of frozen poultry products from Poland from January to August this year.
