Li Zhanshu was appointed acting governor of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province on Tuesday.
It was approved at the 31st session of the Standing Committee of the 10th Heilongjiang Provincial People's Congress, the provincial legislative body, which was held on Tuesday in the provincial capital of Harbin.
The session also approved the resignation of the former governor, Zhang Zuoji.
Li, of Han nationality, was born in August 1950 in Pingshan, northern Hebei Province. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in April 1975. He has been deputy secretary of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee since 2003.
