Wang Hongju was re-elected mayor of southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Saturday at the first session of the third Chongqing Municipal People's Congress, the local legislative body.
Wang, born in October 1945, is a native of Chongqing. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in February 1979.
He graduated from the Mathematics Department of the Sichuan University and began working at a local barite mine in 1968.
He has served as mayor of Chongqing since January 2003.
He is a member of the 17th CPC Central Committee.
