Luo Baoming elected governor of Hainan Province

Luo Baoming was re-elected governor of south China's Hainan Province and Wei Liucheng the top provincial lawmaker at a session of the Hainan legislature on Tuesday.

Luo, born in October 1952, was re-elected to the post at the first session of the 4th Hainan Provincial People's Congress. He was first elected last February.

A native of Tianjin Municipality in north China, Luo holds a master's degree in history. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1971.

Before becoming governor, he served as vice-governor and acting governor of Hainan.

Wei, born in 1946, had worked more than 30 years in the petroleum industry and was appointed general manager of the China National Offshore Oil Corp. in 1998. He moved to Hainan in October 2003 and became the governor in February 2004.
