The fourth meeting of the Mainland/Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade will be held on Thursday and Friday in Hong Kong.
A spokesman for the Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR said Wednesday that at this year's meeting, both sides will review the work of the Joint Commission in the past year and consider its future focus.
The meeting will also discuss issues related to the strengthening of work for the promotion and facilitation of investment and trade between the two places following the mainland's accession to the World Trade Organization, the spokesman added.
An Min, deputy minister of foreign trade and economic cooperation, will lead the mainland delegation.
The Hong Kong SAR delegation will be headed by Henry Tang, secretary for commerce, industry and technology.
The meeting will be co-chaired by An and Tang on November 28. The closing session will be held on November 29.
The Joint Commission was set up in Beijing, where its first meeting was held in 1999.
The objective of the Joint Commission is to strengthen exchange and liaison between Hong Kong and the mainland on commerce and trade matters.
In between the plenary sessions, the four Working Groups on Trade, Investment, Technology Trade and Treaty Law, and Economic Cooperation conduct formal and informal meetings to discuss and follow up on matters under their respective terms of reference.
