China's eastern coastal province of Fujian has elected members for the ninth provincial committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
The committee consists of 682 members, among whom some 360 members are newly elected, 276 are Communist Party members and 108 represent Hong Kong, Macao and overseas Chinese.
Under Fujian's current economic structure, the number of newly elected members from economic, financial and non-public sectors has increased.
According to Vice-Chairman He Shaochuan of the eighth CPPCC provincial committee on Monday, committee members have submitted a total of 144 investigative reports over the past five years on some20 major topics of social attention including agricultural development and rural work, water pollution control, social security system, and economic and social development in ethnic minority regions.
The committee has also stepped up exercising its supervisory role, he said. And these members have, over the past five years, submitted 4,069 proposals altogether, among which 3,196 were adopted or dealt with by relevant local executive and judicial departments.
