Beijing to Launch Cleaning Drive to Curb SARS
A campaign to clean up public places and homes throughout the Chinese capital will be launched before May Day, as part of Beijing's battle against the spread of SARS.

The cleaning drive will focus on individuals, homes and communities, so as to create a sound environment for the anti-SARS effort, says a joint decree issued by three city government bodies.

It also orders all government bodies, military units, schools, companies and institutional units to clean and sanitize their own places.

Efforts should also be made to clean up garbage that has piled up for a long time, sanitize rural areas, and create public awareness about the cleaning campaign, it says.
