A senior Party official has called for nationwide efforts to enhance solidarity among the Chinese people for the building of a relatively affluent society in an all-round way in China.
Jia Qinglin, a member of the Standing Committee of Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said Thursday the fundamental task of the United Front is to unite all the people to make joint efforts for the great cause.
At a workshop attended by some directors of provincial departments of the United Front, Jia urged all United Front workers to mobilize and organize members of all non-Communist parties and people from all works life and all nationalities to play a role in the endeavor.
The CPC Central Committee has proposed "constructors of the socialist cause" be written in the country's Constitution, which Jia said means the United Front workers should unite the new social group as constructors of the socialist cause while consolidating the unity between workers, peasants and intellectuals.
Jia, who is also chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, called for wide-ranging solidarity among all socialist laborers, socialist constructors, and patriots who support socialism and the reunification of the motherland.
