A new committee was established Monday to ensure safety in power production across the country.
The State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC), two major power grid corporations and some power companies are members of the newly-established Committee for National Power Production Safety, according to the committee's first meeting held here Monday.
The establishment of the committee is a substantial measure to enhance the supervision and management on power production safety, said SERC Chairman Chai Songyue.
To ease the severe power shortage in the country, China has accelerated its pace in grid construction and made all power enterprises generate electricity at full speed.
According to a recent executive meeting of the State Council, or the Chinese cabinet, ensuring safety and security of energy production is one of several essential measures taken by the government to ease energy shortage in the summer.
