Wu Bangguo, Chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) has held talks with Pakistani Senate Chairman Muhammadmian Soomro Tuesday in Beijing. Both men commend the progress in bilateral relations. Wu expressed his appreciation for Pakistan's solid support on Taiwan, Tibet and the human rights issue.
In a separate meeting with the country's top government advisory body -- CPPCC chairman, Jia Qinglin, Soomro underlined hopes that the visit would help enhance contact and cooperation at the level of elected representatives.
Soomro arrived in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uigur Autonomous Region on Saturday, the first leg of his week-long visit.
