Top legislator Wu Bangguo said on Thursday that China will constantly push forward its partnership with Brazil from a strategic point of view.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislative body, made these remarks at a meeting with visiting Brazilian Vice President Jose Alencar in Beijing.

China and Brazil shared long-term history of contact, witnessed development of strategic partnership and cooperation in all fields, which resulted in substantial benefits for the two peoples, Wu said.

As two influential developing countries with reciprocal economies, China and Brazil share the common aspiration to deepening bilateral cooperation, he said.

The NPC has carried out sound exchange with the National Congress of Brazil and will exert joint efforts to promote bilateral ties in a bid to increase mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples and the two countries, Wu noted.

Alencar hailed China's economic achievements and domestic and foreign policies, saying Brazil will work along with China to strengthen relations between the two countries and the two parliaments.

Alencar is in Beijing for a six-day visit as guest of Vice President Zeng Qinghong.
