A Malaysian four-wheel-drive vehicle team left Kuala Lumpur on Monday, starting a friendship journey to China.
The convoy consisting of 23 four-wheel-drive vehicles and 88 people will spend 15 days and travel more than 6,000 kilometers through Thailand, Laos to China, according to the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) Youth, the organizer of the event.
This is the second such expedition organized by MCA Youth after it launched the first one in 2004.
The second "Journey of Friendship II" is aimed at further strengthening and expanding the success in 2004, the MCA Youth said.
The Malaysian expedition team is expected to stop over at cities in four provinces in southern China to promote political, economic and cultural exchanges and dialogues between the MCA youth and local government bodies and other organizations.
The Malaysian team also shoulder a mission to promote Malaysia's tourism during its journey, the MCA Youth said.
The team will arrive in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province of China on May 29 to end its journey and then travel to Macao, China, from where they will return to Malaysia by air.
