The Chinese trade unions always take African trade unions as trust-worthy friends and partners, and will strengthen cooperation with them, said a senior official from the All-China Federation of Trade Unions on Wednesday (ACFTU).

When meeting with trade union leaders from 17 African countries, Wang Zhaoguo, president of the ACFTU, spoke highly of the African trade unions for holding firmly to the principles and upholding justice in international trade union affairs and their sincere support to the Chinese trade unions.

The visit of the trade union leaders will further promote a comprehensive development of the partnership between China and African trade unions, he said.

Wang, also vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, spoke highly of the friendly relations between China and African countries and the two peoples as well.

Leaders from the African trade unions expressed their gratitude for the generous support from the Chinese government and trade unions for years, and willingness to further upgrade the trade union cooperation between China and African countries to a new height.

The African trade union leaders are in Beijing for a seminar on China-Africa trade union cooperation, which opened on Tuesday morning.
