General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nong Duc Manh met here with Liu Yunshan, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Wednesday and the two sides agreed to ceaselessly foster the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
Liu conveyed a message of greetings and good wishes to Manh from Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.
Liu, who is also member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, said the Chinese party and government extremely attach importance to the China-Vietnam ties with the guideline of promoting the friendly and all-round cooperative relations as already defined by the Chinese side.
Liu said the new leadership of the CPC Central Committee will try, along with Vietnam, to expand scopes of friendship and cooperation between the two parties and countries.
Now, the China-Vietnam relations have a good impetus, bilateral high-level visits are conducted frequently, mutual political trust is enhanced ceaselessly, economic and trade cooperation develops rapidly, and trade turnovers increase continuously, Liu said.
The theory research of the two parties and exchange of state management experience are deepened, and the understanding and friendship between the two peoples, especially the youths are raised unceasingly, added Liu.
He said that the bilateral cooperation in such fields as culture, science, technology and education is very effective, and the cooperation and coordination in regional and international forums are reinforced ceaselessly, bringing about practical benefits to the two countries and peoples.
Manh asked Liu to convey his greetings and good wishes to Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.
He told Liu that high-level visits of the two parties are not only the symbol but also the guarantee of the favorable development of the Vietnam-China relations.
He said Vietnam highly appreciates and thanks to the new leadership of the CPC Central Committee, led by its general secretary Hu Jintao, for treasuring the development of the bilateral ties.
Manh said the Vietnamese party and government consistently endeavor to speed up the friendly ties formed and looked after by late Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh and late Chiarman Mao Zedong of China, and continue to beef up exchange, friendship and cooperation in different fields and enhance mutual understanding and trust, making Vietnam and China forever good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners.
Manh wished Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC to realize strategic targets set by the 17th National Congress of the CPC.
Also on Wednesday, Liu held talks with Truong Tan Sang, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and permanent member of the committee's Secretariat. During the talks, Liu informed Sang about the 17th National Congress of the CPC.
They exchanged ideas about further strengthening the bilateral relations, and agreed to unceasingly promote the friendship and cooperation between the two parties and the two countries in a new development period.
Liu, at the invitation of the Communist Party of Vietnam, arrived in Hanoi on Wednesday, starting a two-day visit to Vietnam.
