Adjust font size:

Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi exchanged views with the European Union (EU)'s top diplomat Javier Solana on the Iranian nuclear issue by telephone Monday night, China's Foreign Ministry said.

Solana, who is the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, briefed Yang on his meeting with Iran's new chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili in London Friday, the ministry said in a press release. Jalili is also secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council.

During the telephone talks, Yang said China would like to continue its efforts to solve the Iranian nuclear issue appropriately, it added.
