China donated 50 sets of computers and the relevant accessories to Uganda Friday to promote mutual cooperation in the field of education.
Chinese ambassador to Uganda Li Qiangmin, on behalf of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, officially handed over the said items to Minister of Education and Sports of the Republic of Uganda Edward Khiddu Makubuya at a ceremony held in Kampala on Friday afternoon.
The Chinese ambassador and the Ugandan minister signed the memorandum of understanding on the hand-over at the ceremony on behalf of their respective governments.
The computers will help Makerere University and Mbarara University of Science and Technology to set up a computer lab respectively, according to an agreement reached by the two sides.
