Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian met in Beijing on Tuesday with Ricardo Guillermo Brinzoni, chief of staff of the Argentine army, and his party.
Chi, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said China-Argentina relations had developed smoothly and the two countries had cooperated well in various spheres since forging diplomatic ties 30 years ago.
Meanwhile military ties between them had also developed steadily, he said, pledging China's willingness to boost such contacts.
Chi also briefed the guests on China's domestic situation, its views on international affairs and position for resolving the Taiwan issue. He thanked the Argentine government for its support on the issue.
Brinzoni said he had longed to visit China for many years. With its rapid development China set an example for developing countries. He hoped friendly ties between the two would continue to improve.
