Leaders of friendly parties on Thursday sent warm congratulatory messages to China's Jiang Zemin on his re-election as the chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC), at the CPC's 16th National Congress which concluded last Thursday.
Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), sent his warmest greetings to Jiang on his re-election, and said: "The CPC's 16th National Congress concluded successfully and you were re-elected as the chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission, which shows the Chinese parties and people have made a high appraisal of your outstanding contribution to the causes of building socialism with Chinese characteristics."
Manh continued: "It also reflected firm confidence in your continued contribution to carrying out the resolutions passed in the CPC's 16th National Congress." The message ended wishing Jiang "greater accomplishment in his lofty and highly-responsible post."
Hatoyama Yukio, head of the Democratic Party of Japan, extendedhis hearty congratulations to Jiang. "Your Excellency received me and we held candid discussions when I, as the leader of a Democratic Party delegation commemorating the 30th anniversary of the normalization of Sino-Japanese relations, visited China in June," Yukio said in his congratulatory message.
"When Your Excellency visited Japan, and I visited China, I wasvery honored to meet you several times and exchange in-depth viewswith you," it continued. "In the future, we will spare no effort to further develop the friendly cooperation between the two parties and to build the trust between the two countries."
Jose Maria Pereira Neves, President of African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), said in his message: "I am glad to hear that you have been re-elected as the chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission. I, in the name of the PAICV and myself, extend the warmest greetings to you." The message reiterated the will to contribute to the further development of the already existing friendly relations and cooperation between the two parties and the two peoples.
Renato Rabelo, President of the National Communist Party of Brazil, greeted Jiang's re-election in his message. The message wished greater achievements for Jiang in the lofty post, in order to benefit the Chinese people and to realize the modernization andprosperity of the People's Republic of China.
