Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan and his Uruguayan counterpart, Didier Opertti Badan, on Monday exchanged congratulatory messages on the 15th anniversary of the establishment of full diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In his message, Tang said the Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of the relations between the two countries.
Together with Uruguay, China would make great efforts to promote the further consolidation and development of the ties between the two nations, he added.
The Uruguayan foreign minister said that on the basis of good relations established over the years, Uruguay and China have set up an important framework of mutual aid and cooperation, within which the friendship of the two countries has enjoyed continuous development.
"In the past 15 years, the two countries have conducted constructive dialogue, with significant progress made in trade and cultural and technical exchanges," he said, adding that the two countries have also reached consensus on global issues.
On behalf of the Uruguayan government and people, Opertti expressed his hope for the further and steady development of bilateral ties.
