The Chinese and Pakistani governments signed in Islamabad Wednesday a certificate, handing over a Chinese-subsidized technical training center to the Pakistani side.
Chinese Ambassador Zhang Chunxiang and Pakistani Secretary of Economic Affairs Division Waqar Masood signed the hand-over certificate on behalf of their respective side.
The Advanced Technical Training Center, based in Peshawar, near the Afghanistan border, is to provide potential trainees with vocational training including industrial electrification, advanced welding, computer maintenance and etc.
The Chinese government provided an interest-free loan worth of 27.5 million renminbi yuan (US$3.35 million) for the project, which was undertaken by the Chinese side on the "Turn-key" basis including construction, supply of machinery and equipment and transfer of technology from China.
The construction of the project started in January 2002.
