5 Killed, 53 Injured in India's Train Derailment

At least five persons were killed and 53 were injured when five bogies of a Bangalore-bound passenger train jumped off the tracks in south India on Thursday morning, according to the Press Trust of India (PTI).

The incident occurred soon after the train, running between Mysore and Bangalore for daily passengers, left the Mysore station at 6.30 am.

Five bodies have been recovered and two passengers are "missing," PTI quoted a police official as saying, adding that 13 persons were rushed to a nearby hospital in Mysore. Others suffered minor injuries.
