Ugandan Attorney General Francis Ayume was killed when the vehicle he was aboard collided with a lorry in northwestern Uganda on Sunday night, Radio Uganda reported Monday.
His bodyguard also died on the spot and the driver was injured seriously. They were en route to the capital Kampala from Masindi when the accident happened.
After learning about the death of Ayume, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni described him as a fallen son of Uganda and one of the most committed public servants the country has ever had.
Museveni directed that a state funeral be accorded to the late attorney general.
