Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan said in Beijing Friday that the cooperation between China and Nigeria is fruitful after the two countries forged diplomatic ties.
Cao, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and state councilor, made the remarks in his official talks with visiting Nigerian Minister of Defense Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Cao said the military ties between China and Nigeria have also been strengthened and the Chinese armed forces attach great importance to the development of military ties with Nigeria.
China is willing to join the efforts with the Nigerian armed forces to push the bilateral military ties up to a new height, he said.
Cao also expressed appreciation for Nigeria's firm adherence to the one-China policy, and thanked Nigeria's support to China on human rights and other major issues.
Kwankwaso said Nigeria pays great attention to the friendly ties with China. The country hopes to further strengthen bilateral exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields, especially in the military areas, he told Cao.
The Nigerian guests started their seven-day visit from June 20 as guests of Cao.
