A Sino-U.S. model housing project was recently launched in Jinan, capital city of Shandong Province in east China.
The project in southern Jinan will occupy 15.55 hectares, with 92,000 square meters of buildings, officials with the project said.
The project was expected to introduce U.S. advances in architectural structure, energy, kitchen and toilet design, the officials said.
The project is part of the housing cooperation program that resulted from former U.S. president Bill Clinton's China visit four years ago.
Jointly sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Construction and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the program is designed to introduce sophisticated housing development designs, technologies and practices into China.
Similar projects are already underway in Beijing and Shanghai.
