The "2005 China Tibetan Cultural Week" will be held in Denmark and Italy from Sept.3-20 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
This is the first time that China will ever hold events focusing on Tibetan culture in the two European countries, according to the Information Office of the State Council on Tuesday.
A series of activities such as a grand exhibition of tangkas, a kind of scroll painting mounted on brocade, and cultural relics, singing and dancing performances by Tibetan artists, and academic exchange activities by Tibetologists and Living Buddhists will be staged during the cultural week.
The events will introduce Tibet to people in the two countries in all perspectives, including its geographical location, population, scenic spots, natural resources and environmental protection efforts, among others.
The coming culture week will be jointly sponsored by the Chinese Association of Cultural Exchanges with Foreign Countries, the Tibet Autonomous Regional Association of Cultural Exchanges with Foreign Countries, the Denmark-China Friendship Association and an Italy-China foundation.
China has hosted Tibetan culture festivals in Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, Canada, Thailand and China's Hong Kong since 2001.
