Volunteers who speak foreign languages are being sought by the Beijing 120 emergency medical center to serve during the 2008 Beijing Games as emergency operators. .
Beijing Youth Daily reports the volunteers will assist answer the emergency calls with doctors' supervision. The volunteers must have a good command of one or more foreign language and especially those which are less popular. They're required to serve at least four hours per month and more than 100 hours annually.
An official from the center explains their research has found around 10,000 foreign athletes and visitors received emergency treatment during the 2004 Athens Olympics. More than 80 were hospitalized.
Volunteer recruitment started on December 11. Those interested can dial the 120 emergency center's recruitment hotline on 010 - 6609 8203 and 010- 6601 6101 or the China Youth Daily hotline on 010-6590 2008.
