Joint efforts urged to enhance Olympic preparations

At the 92nd meeting of its Executive Board, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) urged the play of the advantages of the socialist system, enhancement of efficiency and coordination, integration of resources from various areas and mobilization of all forces in the city, with an aim of fully meeting the Games-time requirements and ensuring an Olympics characterized with distinctive Chinese features and high qualities.

It was noted at the meeting that BOCOG staff members need to abide by the requirements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the characteristics of the current stage of the Olympic preparations; stress coordination, cooperation and awareness of responsibility and tasks; and bring initiatives of various parties into play, with the goal of improving and perfecting a highly efficient Games-time operation mechanism.

The meeting heard a report on the replenishment of equipment and logistics safeguards for the operations teams of the Olympic venues. The meeting noted that the experiences from the Good Luck Beijing sport events must be summed up in earnest to ensure an organic linkage of venue operation, logistics supply and city operations for logistics sufficiency and network security of the Games-time venue operations teams. The meeting especially called for a replenishment of power supply and electrical and other engineering facilities according to the tasks and specific needs of the competition, non-competition and training venues of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In addition, competent minds need to be assigned to the venue operations teams to strengthen their management and logistics capabilities.

The meeting also heard a report on the progress of the ticket sales for the Beijing Paralympic Games. The meeting noted that great importance should be attached to the task, and a good arrangement should be made for the distribution of tickets related to the Olympic education program. Efforts should be made to attract the attention of a great majority of the masses to the Paralympic Games with an aim at creating a favorable social environment for the care of people with a disability.

BOCOG President Liu Qi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Beijing Municipal CPC Committee, chaired the meeting. Present at the meeting were State Councilor and BOCOG First Vice-President Chen Zhili; Minister of the General Administration of Sport and BOCOG Executive President Liu Peng; Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Municipal CPC Committee, Mayor of Beijing and BOCOG Executive President Guo Jinlong; and China Disabled Persons Federation President and BOCOG Executive President Deng Pufang.
