Introduction

As a symbol of China's alternative rock, Cold Blooded Animals was formed in 1994. Then the band involved a great deal of crew changes. After twelve-year long run, the current band are: Xie Tianxiao (vocal/guitar), Li Ming (bass) and Wu Rui (drums). Their music characterizes China's rock music by fusing the energy of grunge, acid-rock and punk music. With drastic explosive power, you can also find melody in it. By the end of 1999, Cold Blooded Animals signed the Scream Records and released their self-titled album. It cost a whole year to produce the record and all songs contained are composed by Xie. The unique style and the violent voice soon got praise from the Chinese music industry. With 150,000 tapes and 20,000 CDs all sold out, the press described the band as "an amazing beautiful flower blooming in the China's rock soil". Between 2000 and 2002, with more support, the band engaged in assorted performances in different countries. As a representative of China's rock bands, they took part in a series of international music festivals in Japan and America. The band's name and story are also published in the world famous rock magazine Rolling Stone.
