Improving product quality and food safety is a common task facing the international community, said Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao at the National Quality Work Conference on July 27 in Beijing. The Chinese Government attaches great importance to and takes a responsible attitude toward product quality and food safety, he said.

As a large trading power, China is willing to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with other countries, said Wen Jiabao, also  Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. China stands for resolving international disputes on product quality and food safety through dialogue, negotiations and investigations, while respecting science and observing international rules, he added.

China is aware that product quality is of paramount importance and will spare no effort to ensure product quality, Wen said. While facing up to its problems, China is opposed to groundless, lopsided hype, trade protectionism and discrimination. China believes that new progress will be made in improving product quality and food safety so long as all countries strengthen consultation and collaboration in the spirit of equality, mutual benefit and sincerity, he said.
