Hong Kong has announced the launch of a joint funding scheme with south China's Guangdong Province to support research and development projects on technology.
Under the scheme, the two governments will provide funding support to universities, research institutions and private enterprises to conduct applied research and development plans in six key technology areas.
These technology areas are relevant to the needs of the industry and will enhance economic development in the Greater Pearl River Delta or PRD region.
The two governments agreed in early August this year to strengthen technology cooperation and drew up a plan for cooperation to facilitate the effective development and upgrading of industries in the Greater PRD region.
