The Chinese Academy Of Sciences(CAS), boasting around 18,000 graduates students, including 9,000 doctoral candidates, has become the largest graduate academic institution in China.
Initiating recruitment in 1951, CAS opened China's first graduate school in 1978. Since then, approximately 60,000 students have received their master's or doctorate degrees from the institution.
It has provided numerous high-level scientific experts for China, and has greatly contributed to Chinese economic developmentand scientific progress as well as to the establishment of a graduate-level educational system.
With a unique management style and operational mode, and its strong, versatile departments, CAS has developed a graduate training system covering five educational bases nationwide with a total of 101 training units.
The pool of mentors in CAS comprise the core of qualified teachers in CAS's graduate school. Over 300 academicians, 2000 doctoral mentors and 4500 professors make up the strong teaching team of the academic institution.
