Three Gorges Project Uses Advanced Monitoring System
The world's largest water conservation project, the Three Gorges Dam Project, has the most advanced safety monitoring system in the world.

According to the Three Gorges Project Construction General Corporation, more than 10,000 monitoring devices of over 60 kinds, form the monitoring network on the dam.

The apparatus gathers all manner of information, including deformation, seepage, rift, and temperature changes. At present, the seepage index at two places on the dam is relatively higher than expected. But the corporation says the index rise is within their designed range. They explained the reason for the higher index is the geological structure at those two places.
