The first seminar of Sino-British young scientists was held in the Shanghai National Accounting Institute yesterday, with nearly 30 Chinese and British young scholars studying and discussing biological information science and nano biological technology.
Fifteen British young scholars are from renowned universities such as the University of Cambridge and University of Oxford, and 13 Chinese young scholars are from Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Fudan University, Jiaotong University and University of Science and Technology of China, which are famous for studying biological science and technology and nano technology.
British scholars will visit some universities and scientific research institutes of Shanghai, and will be invited by the Shanghai branch office of www.sina.com.cn as guests on July 18 to communicate with local residents.
The Ministry of Science and Technology and the British state scientific and technological office will jointly invest two million yuan (US$240,000) drawing up an exchange plan that Chinese and British scientists can apply for exchange funds to make face-to-face communications for five days to three months, the two sides announced at the seminar yesterday.
