Blessed with new technology: A doctor at the Wuhan People's Hospital holds a baby who was born Wednesday with help of "fourth-generation test-tube baby technology."
The boy's mother, a 33-year-old woman, had difficulty bearing a child because of problems with her eggs. Experts at the hospital removed part of the cytoplasm from her egg cell and replaced it with cytoplasm from another woman. The egg was successfully fertilized in a tube and put back in the mother's womb. It is reportedly China's first successful birth of a baby using this technology.
