China's first route switching system high-end core chip for use in communications area "Huaxia Network Chip" made its debut in Chengdu High-tech & Innovative Park, Sichuan Province in early April. This high-end technology, which has applied for 10 invention patent rights, 2 copyrights and holds independent intellectual property rights, has been tackled.
Chips used in routers and switchers are of high-end technology in the area of communications network, which are currently produced only by two US companies. The two companies control the world market. According to statistics the sales volume in 2002 of switchers and routers was about 12.97 billion yuan (US$1.6 billion) in China, of which chips accounted for about 3 billion yuan (US$362 million) of the market share.
On Mar. 30 an evaluation committee, formed by experts in the areas of integrated circuit design, microelectronic technology and communications technology such as academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering Zhu Zhongliang and Zhang Bo, said after evaluating "Huaxia Network Chip", Huaxia TS2410 chip adopts network processor NFP. Its network security management function, integrateable access network function and user management function are better than those of foreign counterparts. Experts said the chip has no back door, more security functions and can filter contents. It is currently the most advanced, most complex digital communications chip of the largest scale and biggest potentials.
