China's supercomputer Shuguang 4000A has taken 10th place at the 23rd bi-annual survey of the world's top 500 supercomputer sites, which is compiled twice a year, cirenglish.com reported Monday.
Shuguang has a Linpack benchmark performance of 8 teraflops per second, which means it can carry out four trillion of calculations in one second.
Except for its CPU and a Linux operating system, all the parts of the supercomputer were made in China.
IBM has replaced HP as the developer with hottest new supercomputers.
NEC's Earth Simulator based in Yokohama got the pole position for the third consecutive year.
The Top 500 list is compiled twice a year by academics for the International Supercomputer Conference.
