The trial of four suspected human traffickers involved in an August drowning incident off the coast of Taiwan is nearing an end. The suspects are charged with throwing 26 mainland women off a boat as the Taiwan coast guard chased after them near the island in late August.
Six of the mainland women -- on their way to Taiwan -- were drowned. Seven of the Chinese mainland women involved in the incident have just finished testifying in court. They are now waiting to be sent back to the mainland. Prosecutors have asked the court to sentence two of the suspects to death, and the other two to four-to-six years in prison. The verdict will be read in two weeks.
