Turnover on China's railways reached 2.44 trillion ton-kilometers in the first 11 months, up 5.9 percent on the same period last year, according to Wang Yongping, spokesman with the Ministry of Railways.
The country's railways carried 1.109 billion passengers in the first 11 months, up 8.3 percent year on year, which was 98 percent of the whole year's transportation target, Wang said.
Meanwhile, 2.24 billion tons of cargo were transported by rail, an increase of 5.9 percent from the same period last year.
China's railway transportation had continued to grow quickly and this year's turnover would be a record, said Wang.
