Beijing Acts to Curb Black Market on Train Tickets
Adjust font size:

Railway police will register the name, address and ID card number of all passengers who buy more than five tickets from the Beijing Railway Station next year.

Xinhua News Agency reports it's the latest measure designed to stop people from reselling train tickets at inflated prices during the busy Spring Festival period.

People who buy lots of tickets over several consecutive days may be taken in for police questioning. Anyone considered to be suspicious will be supervised.

Meanwhile, the security department has set up a database to record the details of all black market train ticket sellers.

The Spring Festival travel peak will start on February 3, 2007.

It's estimated that around 156 million people will travel by train during the season.
