Wreckage of Missing Indonesian Jetliner Found, with 12 Survivors

Twelve passengers of the crashed plane of Indonesian Adam Air were recovered alive, a local leading website "detik.com" reported Tuesday morning.

 

The Boeing 737-400 plane which went missing on Monday afternoon on its flight from Surabaya to Manado in North Sulawesi was discovered at Rangoan, Matangan subdistrict in West Sulawesi, at 8: 29 a.m. local time on Tuesday.

 

Mulyadi, the head of the information sector at the Makassar airport in South Sulaweisi province, said police in West Sulawesi telephoned on hotline to Makassar airport saying that 12 passengers out of the total 96 passengers on board of the plane were found still alive.

 

He said Indonesian navy Boeing 737-200 aircraft is seeking the position of the crashed plane and another helicopter will be sent immediately to the location.

 

The plane with 85 adult passengers, seven children and four infants left Surabaya airport at 12:59 Monday and was scheduled to land in Manada, capital of North Sulawesi, at 16:14. There were four air attendants on the plane with PK-KKW registration.
