Zambia will market other tourist attraction areas this year apart from the Victoria Falls to attract more foreign tourists and promote holiday culture among Zambians, Times of Zambia reported Wednesday.
It quoted Tourism Deputy Minister Michael Kaingu as saying here Tuesday that Zambia is endowed with rich natural tourism sites in Luapula and Northern provinces among other areas, which have not yet been exploited.
It is important for both local and foreign tourists not only to visit the Victoria Falls but also see the source of the Zambezi river in Northwestern Province among other tourist attractions in the country, according to the deputy minister.
"Once we market the industry, more jobs will be created as you know the industry is the biggest wealth creator that can accelerate other sectors in economic and social development," he said.
The biggest challenge facing the ministry is providing affordable air transport to fly tourists from one point to another, he said.
The 3,450-km Zambezi river, fourth longest African river, goes through Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola and Namibia among others to the Indian Ocean.
