Two Zimbabwean information and communication companies worked out a website for the country's tourism marketing, The Herald reported on Monday.
The website, ifindzimbabwe.com, was a brainchild of the firms Sadacnet and Groupview Technologies which teamed up to form an online marketing portal for the hospitality industry in Zimbabwe.
The website contains information on the country's tourism destinations, listings of products as well as a search by region or city for all Zimbabwean accommodation, transport facilities, restaurants and travel agents.
Spokesperson for both companies Princess Etwop said both the private and public sectors need to embrace the web and new technologies to enable Zimbabwe to maintain its position as a leading destination in Africa. She urged stakeholders and all Zimbabweans to support the website.
Web-based marketing, information management and online communication would help revive Zimbabwe's tourism sector and help it stay competitive at the international market, she said.
Zimbabwe Council for Tourism Chief Executive Officer Paul Matamisa was quoted by The Herald as saying that online marketing would benefit the sector ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
