A South Korean sightseer was killed accidentally on Sunday by a fallen rock at the Pagsanjan falls, a famous tourist attraction near the Philippine capital, police said on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old South Korean female elementary teacher, identified as Lee Young Sook from Seoul, was killed instantly after a big rock accidentally fell and hit her head while she and her students on a study group tour were boating, Police Officer Benjamin Petano told reporters.

The teacher did not notice the danger as they took pictures of the rapids of Pagsanjan falls in Laguna Province, some 80 kilometers south of Manila, Petano said.

The rock was loosened by erosion above the river lane towards the main falls, the officer added.

Pagsanjan falls have been listed by authorities as a recommended site for foreign sightseers. Tourists going there often take a boatride which passes through 14 rapids between rocks and boulders.
