Tourists on the Huangpu River cruises are going to get more for their money soon.
A recent survey showed that many tourists were unsatisfied with the level of service offered on the sightseeing trips and now operators have promised to extend the route down the river.
Cruise operators said they have come up with plans to extend the current route of tours to between the Nanpu and Yangpu bridges down the Bund, further up to the World Expo zone and down to Wusongkou, the water area near the mouth of the Yangtze River.
The industry authority estimates that the number of tourists taking river tours will increase to four million by the end of the year, from 3.6 million last year.
A survey by the Shanghai Maritime University collected the views of 450 tourists and more than 40 percent of the respondents were not satisfied with their tours along the river.
