It goes without saying that trying chopsticks is an inseparable part of a trip to China. Isn't the experience challenging and interesting? So, why not share it with your friends back home?
You will find chopsticks the perfect gift back in your hometown and a visit to this specialized chopstick shop adds another bonus: Chopsticks are an art form, too.
Yilin Chopstick Shop is the only of its kind in Beijing. It sells more than 1,500 kinds of chopsticks priced from 1 to 2,000 yuan (12 US cents to US$240).
They are made of various materials including bamboo, camel or cow bone, sandalwood, jade, cloisonne and even silver. And their designs are varied, some featuring small sculptures of animals at their ends, some displaying traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, or Peking Opera face makeup.
