Thick fog Monday prevented a flight from landing at Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning province, and forced it to return to Beijing.
Visibility at Shenyang Taoxian International Airport fell below500 meters on Monday morning, preventing flight CA1601 from landing, but no outgoing flights were affected, according to an airport authority source.
Meanwhile, the visibility fell below 10 meters in the downtown city about 7:30 am Monday, affecting the city's regular transport.
Cold air was expected to hit the city Monday night and dispersethe fog, according to the local meteorological station.
