The first outbound tourist group to Hong Kong started their journey after China halted organized tourism due to the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreak.
Some 90 people organized by China Travel International Company set out from Beijing, Shenzhen and Shanghai and will meet in Hong Kong for a tour during the weekend. Another 24 people organized by China International Travel Service Company are on the same route.
Over 200 people have registered for the tour to Hong Kong and Macao by the China Youth Travel Service Company. Another tour group with over 100 people will visit the Republic of Korea (ROK) on July 15.
Experts said China's outbound tourism market has begun to recover.
Over 20 countries and regions which gained approved destination status plan to provide special food and shopping prices for Chinese tourists in July and August. Airline companies also planned to reduce ticket prices.
