Hotels, restaurants and other catering sectors in Shenzhen are required to guard against SARS and food poisoning during the weeklong National Day holidays and the following China Hi-Tech Fair.
According to the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau, employees with Shenzhen's service sectors will be suspended from working and immediately sent to a hospital if they are found developing symptoms such as a cough and fever during the period.
All service employees are required to pay special attention to personal hygiene including neat, clean clothes, short fingernails and healthy skin. Food workers should not wear rings and earrings and should cover their hair.
Hotels and restaurants are urged to keep a close eye on guests and employees' health conditions and report any suspected SARS victims or people who have had contact with them immediately to the bureau. The businesses should shut down if this is the case.
