Water Clean Up in Shichahai

Beijing is taking measures to clean up the water in the scenic spot of Shichahai north of the Forbidden City.

Boats have come to remove the excess algae, and an aerator will add oxygen to the water.

In addition, fish with a taste for the excess algae will be raised.

Experts engaged in this project also call for Beijing residents to improve their awareness of environmental protection.

Many local people treat their lakes and canals as garbage dumps!

During the Yuan Dynasty, Shichahai was the northern starting point of the Grand Canal. The area is famous for its traditional siheyuan courtyard houses.
