The Drama Museum of the Beijing People's Art Theater has been officially awarded the first drama museum in China. The museum will showcase the many changes the theatre has undergone over the years.
It will also endeavor to encourage more studies and exchanges relating to the dramatic arts beyond the stage.
The drama museum has collected 150,000 articles, such as rare handwritings by late literature giants Guo Moruo, Lao She, Cao Yu and Shen Congwen.
One of the theatre founders, Ouyang Shanzun has been invited to be the honorary curator.
The museum is expected to open before the end of this year. (Chinabroadcast.cn June 16, 2004)
